Charming Cisternino

The charming town of Cisternino has an old town centre that has whitewashed houses, narrow streets, historic churches and an elegant central piazza. There are several panoramic view points from which to see from the surrounding countryside to the Adriatic Sea. Such a fun excursion with Lee and Ciro and Luca, plus Esther who joined us here from Holland for a brief visit. This region is surrounded by local agriculture – olive trees, vineyards, orchards and vegetable gardens – and known for its good, wine and seafood. We ate the most delicious pizza at Doppio Zero in the centro piazza and … Continue reading Charming Cisternino

Cocktail of the Day: Sicily Sailor

When you’re stuck in port with a bad engine for hours what could be more refreshing as you finally leave the harbor. Sicily Sailor 2 oz blood orange juice 2 oz Vodka 1 oz sparkling mineral water lime wedge Ice Aaahhh can you feel the sea breeze?? Don’t forgetti the Yeti. (Because apparently only the Americans like Ice in their cocktails. Ice is as scarce here in Sicily as a cool breeze in the heat wave) Continue reading Cocktail of the Day: Sicily Sailor

Runnin’ on One

We lost the starboard engine somewhere between Capo and Castellammare del Golfo yet managed to drop Kim off in Zingaro reserve on the standup paddleboard for a night at a local resort. Spent two nights in the charming town of Castellammare del Golfo. More incredible seafood, couscous and Sicilian wine. This morning motored on one engine to the Palermo harbor to get the engine repaired. Brad’s surgery was rescheduled to Wednesday and it went brilliantly and he is doing well. Two more nights on the boat before we head to Puglia to see Lee and Ciro with a surprise visit … Continue reading Runnin’ on One

Knot Tied

What a perfect evening. Elana officiated a sacred and beautiful ceremony. We were surrounded by the love of family and friends who were with us on the boat, and those with us in spirit. Somehow the bride and tribe all made it into the dinghy without anyone overboard and we’re ushered off to our dinner. James and I are grateful beyond words for all of your love and support. Much love from Mr. and Ms. White in San Vito lo Capo, Sicily. Continue reading Knot Tied

Trapani

A fishing port and gateway to the Egadi islands, Trapani is a festive and walkable city. We drove here from Palermo with Kim, and got here in time for James to jump in the Med for an afternoon swim with the jellyfish. Dennis and Wendi met us at our hotel Room Mate Andrea with a rooftop pool and bar with a sweeping view of the city. The long narrow avenues are filled with shops, restaurants and bars spilling into the street with outdoor tables. After dinner, late into the evening, the streets are alive with people with live bands playing … Continue reading Trapani

M Squared Spirits

We picked up James’ ring today from Sophia Jewelers in Mill Valley (lovely local jeweler) and next door was a craft cocktail tasting. Michael Cecconi, the creative force behind M Squared, was pouring a Camomile Old Fashioned with camomile-infused bourbon, bitters and honey and it is delicious. Super cute 200ML bottle which was about enough for two cockatils. Delicious!! Check it out: http://www.msquaredspirits.com Continue reading M Squared Spirits
